For those who are not familiar with the event, an AYF Tri-Regional Seminar may be described as Junior Seminar for Seniors from all over the United States and Canada. The event is held at camp. Participants sleep in cabins and are expected to attend lectures daily. However, they also have the opportunity to make new friends from different regions. The real purpose of the event is to bring the AYF members together and give them the opportunity to meet, interact and share ideas.
“Tri-regional is one of the best events AYF has to offer, because it gives us a chance to interact with AYFers from outside our region and become more active internationally,” said Phil Nigon, AYF Eastern CE member. “You will make friends here whom you might go visit in LA or Montreal, or maybe even meet up with in Yerevan.”
For those who enjoy Junior Seminar, this is an excellent opportunity. It is the opportunity to participate in a program of a similar nature but aimed at our senior members. It is the opportunity to participate in a more mature lecture and social program. It is a great opportunity to learn as well as have fun.
The lectures will be delivered by high-profile Ungers from across all three regions, so attendees are virtually guaranteed to hear a presentation from someone they have never seen lecture before. In addition to lectures, there will be breakout sessions and fun activities to take full advantage of Camp Haiastan in the summertime. Attendees can expect most of the normal Camp Haiastan activities (basketball, swimming, etc..), as well as some larger-scale organized activities.
While it's certainly possible to just stay for the weekend and then leave, we are planning some of the best activities for during the week. Monday there will be a field trip to the historic Hairenik Building in Watertown, where the AYF was founded.
The CE asks that all members make attendance a high priority. The Tri-Regional Seminar is a very important part of the AYF experience, one which only occurs twice or three times in a decade. All chapter executives should begin planning for members to attend as a group. They should also begin to explore travel options to Camp Haiastan - Franklin, MA
