Hyortik's Commemorate April 24 with Month-Long Activities

NEW YORK — April as a month of remembrance and a call to action was the theme for the New York Hyortiks this year as they approached Armenian Genocide commemorations. The chapter organized various activities and carried out several projects throughout April to lead the community in a continuous remembrance.

93rd Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide

The members of the Armenian Youth Federation remember the more than 1.5 million Armenians who perished at the hands of the Ottoman Empire in the Armenian Genocide of 1915. It is one of this organization's paramount goals to ensure worldwide and Turkish recognition of this atrocity in an attempt to raise awareness of crimes against humanity and prevent any other nation from a similar fate. Fighting for Armenian Genocide recognition is not a task reserved for any single day or month of the year, but a responsibility which the members of the Armenian Youth Federation strive to fulfill year-round.

NEW YORK—On February 29 the New York Hyortik chapter of the Armenian Youth Federation Youth Organization of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (AYF-YOARF) led over 250 members of the New York community in remembering the 20th anniversary of the Artsakh Liberation Struggle and Baku and Sumgait massacre victims.

Spend the Summer in Armenia!

The AYF Internship offers you the unique opportunity to spend a summer working in Armenia and living in an apartment with other interns. The program seeks motivated people who are willing to devote their summer, from mid-June to mid-August, and volunteer in Armenia. The experience has been described by interns as both challenging and enriching. During the week, interns volunteer at their assigned internship. On the weekends, organized trips will take the group throughout the country and Nagorno Karabagh. The internship directors will also provide opportunities for you to take Armenian language lessons, attend weekly lecture series, cultural events, and any other activities in which the group may show interest.
