House Resolution 106 Moves to Floor Vote

After two hours of speeches and deliberation from both sides of the issue, the Foreign Relations Committee of the US House of Representatives voted to approve the Armenian genocide resolution for a full floor vote.

The 50-member committee voted 27-21 in favor with two abstentions in favor of the measure, which now waits for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to call it to a vote of the full House of Representatives. The ANCA and the AYF would like to thank all those who devoted time and effort to phone calls, faxes, mailings, and visits to congressional offices, but would like to remind everyone that the work is far from over. Increased effort will be needed to win the eventual floor vote by the 435-member House.

More information and more detailed results of the vote are available on www.ANCA.org.
