DETROIT, MICHIGAN -- The Armenian Youth Federation-YOARF will hold the 75th Anniversary Olympic Weekend in Detroit , Michigan the weekend of August 28-September 1, 2008. The Detroit Armenian community has been known for hosting unique Olympic weekends and the 75th Anniversary will be no exception. The theme for this year’s Olympic weekend is “Honor the Past and Embrace the Future”. The entire weekend will feature new and traditional events all geared in celebration of more than seven decades of history. A special Saturday night dinner gala is anticipated as a sell-out event, Detroit ’s famous alumni dance will include some of your favorite Armenian musicians from the past along with local artists. The committee is hard at work developing a new theme for the athletic portion of the weekend. Anniversaries are about honoring the past, recognizing where we came from, and embracing the future. One of the oldest ethnic related sports events in the United States , the AYF Olympics weekend in Detroit will be one not to be missed. Since 1950, Detroit has hosted eight Olympic Weekends; each brings a new aspect to the history of the AYF. 

The 75th Olympics will be located at the prestigious Hyatt Regency of Dearborn.
